Experience Behind the Grade

J Wells Precision Grading brings experience in civil earthwork, precision grading, drainage, and site construction to property, farm, equestrian, builder, and commercial projects throughout West and Northwest Georgia.

We Look at the Whole Site

Good earthwork is about more than moving dirt. It starts with understanding how the property needs to function when the work is finished — where water needs to go, how elevations work together, how the site will be accessed, and how the improvements being built will interact with the surrounding ground.

J Wells Precision Grading approaches each project with that finished result in mind. From building pads and access roads to drainage corrections, farm improvements, equestrian sites, and commercial work, we evaluate the conditions in the field and build the earthwork around the needs of the property.

That often means looking beyond the immediate area being graded. Drainage, transitions, compaction, access, existing improvements, and future construction all matter. Our goal is not simply to complete the requested work — it is to leave behind a site that works.

Where the “Precision” Comes From

J Wells Precision Grading was built on experience that reaches well beyond typical grading work. Jeremy Wells’ background includes civil earthmoving and construction, land development, underground utility and gas-pipeline construction, DOT excavation, and sports field construction — work where elevations, drainage, compaction, sequencing, existing infrastructure, and tight tolerances matter.

His underground utility experience includes open-cut trenching, shored excavations in congested utility corridors and busy roadways, as well as Horizontal Directional Drilling operations and the specialized excavation associated with that work. Those environments demanded careful planning, adaptability, and an understanding of how to work efficiently where space is limited and what surrounds the excavation matters.

Sports field construction in particular demands an understanding of grade that goes far beyond making a surface look level. Small elevation differences affect drainage and performance across large areas, and the finished product has to meet the intended design rather than simply look right from the seat of a machine.

That experience carries directly into the work J Wells performs today. We are comfortable working from plans and elevations, coordinating around other trades, addressing drainage and erosion-control requirements, preparing sites for structures, and recognizing when actual site conditions do not match what was expected on paper.

Whether the project is a building pad, access road, drainage correction, farm improvement, equestrian facility, or commercial site, the same principle applies: understand what the finished site needs to do, then build the grade to make it work.
