Effective drainage starts with understanding where the water comes from, how it moves across the property, and where it can safely go.
J Wells approaches drainage as part of the overall grade rather than treating an isolated wet spot. Existing slopes, concentrated runoff, soil conditions, structures, roads, neighboring grades, outlets, and downstream conditions all influence the solution.
Whether the work involves reshaping a swale, correcting erosion, rebuilding a failed ditch, managing runoff around a structure, or constructing a larger drainage system, the objective is the same: establish positive, controlled drainage while protecting the surrounding property from creating another problem somewhere else.

Built to Control the Flow

Once the drainage path is understood, the solution has to be built to handle the water without creating erosion, unstable grades, or maintenance problems elsewhere on the property.
J Wells constructs and restores drainage systems ranging from graded swales and perimeter ditches to culverts, French drains, pond and spillway improvements, stormwater connections, and large engineered channels. Work may include excavation and regrading, geotextile, aggregate and riprap placement, outlet construction, soil stabilization, and rebuilding areas already damaged by uncontrolled runoff.
The scale and materials are matched to the site and the volume of water being managed. The goal is not simply to make water disappear—it is to give it a controlled path from collection to a suitable discharge point while protecting the surrounding grades along the way.
